Eight Sign Language training workshops and two one-day awareness-raising events were hosted in the Western Cape in partnership with the Department of Social Development. DeafNET presented Basic South African Sign Language to youth, not in education, employment, and/or training.
The 8 workshops took place in Stellenbosch, Villiersdorp, Prince Alfred Hamlet in Ceres, Mitchell’s Plain, Robertson, Bredasdorp, and Phillipi, and the two awareness-raising were held in Villiersdorp and Robertson. About 222 youth and other personnel received training in Basic South African Sign Language.
