In 2023, DeafNET, collaborating with the Rwanda National Union of the Deaf, initiated a beekeeping initiative aimed at empowering individuals with hearing impairments in Rwanda. The project began in Gicumbi, a region in the north of Rwanda. A group of 10 direct recipients was selected, provided with initial kits, and received additional training in beekeeping, all under the careful guidance of Mr. Edgar Bwire, the project manager.
